Is this the future look for Force India?

Force India are close to being bought out by a British-based energy drink company. As part of the takeover, the team could be rebranded Rich Energy, after a decade with the current moniker, and its striking pink livery could switch to black and gold.

The Silverstone-based squad have long been linked with a takeover as owner Vijay Mallya fights extradition to his native India over a fraud case.

Having emerged from the ashes of the Spyker team, which folded in 2007, Force India celebrated a 10th season in F1 last year, although it remains to be seen whether the name will remain for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon raced in pink Force India cars during the fortnight of pre-season testing, but COO Otmar Szafnauer claimed the team's apparel and equipment were "interim" designs.

A report in the Richmond and Twickenham Times claims that Rich Energy are on the brink of taking charge.

William Storey, CEO of Rich Energy, said: "Formula One makes a lot of sense to support international expansion and motor racing is the sweet spot for our marketing function.

"As a platform, it's the pinnacle of motor sport and that's really where we want to be.

"To take on Red Bull in Formula One creates a perfect narrative for what we're doing with our brand."

Force India have finished fourth in the constructors' standings in each of the past two seasons.
