Sergio Perez has claimed that 24-year-old F1 world champion Max Verstappen could already be F1's greatest driver of all time.

Red Bull driver Verstappen leads this year's title race by 46 points after taking six victories from the first nine races.

His latest success came at a thrilling Canadian Grand Prix last Sunday as the Dutchman held on after being put under huge pressure by Ferrar's Carlos Sainz.

Perez gets to see how his Red Bull team-mate operates up close and personal every single day. And when asked by Fox Sports to sum up Verstappen's talent, he responded with a huge claim.

"Max is very good and he is a very complete driver," explained Perez.

"He is without a doubt one of the best in the history of Formula 1, if not the best, for everything, for his education and because he has things that other Formula 1 drivers do not have.

"The special thing about Max is the ease of going to the limit, Max goes to the limit from the first lap, every change he makes to the car is important and it's not that he changes his conditioning style, he always goes to the limit.

"The difference is always a corner, it is a level that demands a lot as a driver."

Canada a major title blip for Checo

Perez currently lies second in the title race, and an early DNF in Canada did not help his pursuit of Verstappen.

He admitted: "We can't have another zero, we need to correct these problems and be perfect to get closer to the championship.

"The championship is young and it can change in one or two weekends, we have to keep working and it is a point that will define the year, these zeros are very important at this point."
