Hamilton Monaco frustration "not my problem" - Alonso
Fernando Alonso has dismissed criticism of his driving at the Monaco Grand Prix from Lewis Hamilton as 'not my problem'.
The Alpine driver lapped three to four seconds slower than those ahead of him after a mid-race red-flag restart, which drew ire from Hamilton.
After finishing seventh, Alonso's pace was compared by Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff to that of a Formula 2 car.
Presented with Hamilton's frustration, Alonso shrugged: "Not my problem."
Hamilton later suggested that he "didn't find it frustrating", despite the radio calls during the race.
Hamilton "extremely easy" to keep behind - Alonso
With 15 minutes remaining of what became a timed race, it was clear Alonso had speed to burn as the Spaniard upped his pace and set what was then the fastest lap of the race before Lando Norris pitted for fresh tyres.
“Well, first of all, I didn’t think we had the tyres or the tyre life to finish the race when it was 33 laps," added Alonso.
"This was a sprint race. We had two choices - refit the hard tyres from the beginning of the race or put on the medium tyre.
“We put on the medium tyre but our life estimation was shorter than 33, so we didn’t know if we could finish the race.
“I managed the tyres a lot for 15 laps and then I pushed for the remaining 15 when they told me that Esteban had a penalty.”
Asked how easy it had been to keep Hamilton behind him, Alonso said: "Very easy. Extremely easy.”
