Leclerc blames Ferrari radar for Q2 exit
Charles Leclerc has revealed information from Ferrari's radar led to the team's double elimination from Q2 for the Belgian Grand Prix.
The Monégasque could finish only 11th and team-mate Carlos Sainz 13th after the pair were two of the first drivers to set their final flying laps in the second session at Spa-Francorchamps.
As for the Scuderia's rivals for third in the constructors' standings, McLaren made it through to the top 10 with both drivers, although Lando Norris went on to crash heavily in Q3.
Leclerc has revealed to initially venting his frustration at his team.
"I feel like the second run we did was maybe a little bit early but after the session, I understood," he said.
"I had some disappointment in the helmet after Q2 and I let the team hear it on the radio but after that, they told me they had some rain on the radar for the end of Q2, which now I understand why we went earlier.
"It could have played into our hands. It didn't today.
"In qualifying especially I was satisfied with the car balance at least. The overall performance is not as good as McLaren, it is very impressive in these conditions.
"The balance overall is quite good for us. It is just the overall performance is not where we want it to be."
With weather conditions expected to be largely similar for race day, Leclerc remained coy on his chances but predicted an action-packed afternoon.
"I think it is going to be a very, very tricky race," added Leclerc.
"There may be a bit of luck into the result tomorrow if it keeps raining and not raining but it is a part of racing and it should make for an exciting race."
