McLaren boss Brown brands Euro 2020 final behaviour as 'not acceptable' after Norris incident
Norris was mugged after the game between Italy and England at Wembley
McLaren CEO Zak Brown has slated the UEFA Euro 2020 final held at Wembley as "not a well-executed event" after Lando Norris was mugged after the game.
The British driver was returning to his car after watching Italy beat England on penalties at the stadium in London when he was involved in an incident which saw his £40,000 watch stolen.
Brown, who also attended the final, revealed his own experiences has helped Norris in the aftermath.
"I spoke with him about it a lot," Brown told Sky Sports. "I have been mugged three times actually, in Los Angeles when I was younger so I shared my story.
"It is easy to feel responsible if you are the victim, if that makes sense, you've got a nice watch on but the reality is he did everything he was supposed to do, there are some bad people in the world.
"That was not a well-executed event. I went and that just wasn't acceptable behaviour and that is going to need to be fixed because you shouldn't ever feel in danger going to a big sporting event.
"You would never see that in F1. He is ok, a bit traumatised as you would expect. He has explained to me that it wasn't a very nice experience but he is healthy and he will be fine."
Norris getting in the right zone for British GP
The incident came just a week before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and responding to messages of goodwill from his social media followers, Norris revealed he was healthy.
"Hi world," said Norris. Thanks for all the messages everyone. Really means a lot to see so many messages of kindness and love from you all.
"Thought I'd let you know that I'm doing well and trying to make sure I'm ready and in the right zone for this weekend to perform at my best.
"Love you all and can't wait to see so many of you back at the track this weekend."
