Aston Martin officially welcome Vettel
Sebastian Vettel has completed his first day as an Aston Martin driver at the team's headquarters in Silverstone.
Vettel made the switch from Ferrari after the team elected not to offer the German a new contract, bringing to an end his six-year stint in Italy.
His final two seasons at Ferrari were tainted by multiple high-profile errors and an underperforming car last year left Vettel with the lowest points tally of his career - the 33-year-old scoring only 33 points across the 17 races.
In a video posted on Aston Martin's social media, Vettel can be seen undergoing his seat-fitting during his visit to the factory.
Vettel will make his first outing with the team at the pre-season test in Bahrain in early March ahead of the first race of the season at the same venue.
The four-time champion has joined an Aston Martin team full of confidence. Rebranded from Racing Point, the team is flying high after securing its first race victory in the penultimate race of 2020, the Sakhir Grand Prix.
The Silverstone-based team also scored its highest points total last year, the 195 scored eclipsing the 187 scored in 2017 when the team competed as Force India.
With a new factory scheduled for completion in August 2022, there is a real sense of optimism around the team.
