Former Formula One driver and Grand Prix winner Rubens Barrichello has confirmed via his personal Instagram page that he is 'feeling great' and expects to make a full recovery following a health scare last weekend which saw him admitted to hospital with severe headaches

Barrichello was taken to hospital after not feeling well last Saturday and was eventually treated for a vein issue which has now been sorted completely.

The Brazilian has thanked fans for their support and revealed that he is 'feeling great' after coming through the scare, whilst sharing a photo of himself recovering in bed.

“I see everyone is sending me messages and everyone is worried,” Barrichello said on Instagram.

“So I decided to tell you. On Saturday I decided to wake up and have a shower and I felt a terrible headache.

“Luckily my wife was there and she called a friend doctor who took me to the hospital, they took really good care of me. I had a small problem on a vein but I want to tell you that I am feeling great.

“I am still going through exams and so on, but I am honestly great and the difficulties in life are the ones who show us how to grow and how to be better. I am so thankful, thank God for the opportunity and soon I will be back on the racetrack.”

Barrichello won seven Grand Prix races during his time in F1 and recently made his Le Mans 24 Hours debut. He is expected to return to the track once fully recovered from his ailment.
