Nurburgring confirms 20,000 tickets available for the Eifel Grand Prix

Fans will return to the circuit in Germany

Eifel Grand Prix race organisers have announced 20,000 tickets will be sold for Formula 1's return to the Nürburgring in October.

Formula 1 last raced at the Nurburgring in 2013 with Sebastian Vettel taking victory in what was then labelled the German Grand Prix for Red Bull.

One of six new or returning circuits/circuit configurations on the severely altered 2020 calendar the Eifel Grand Prix will be the third race to take place in front of fans in the current season.

Ferrari invited a number healthcare workers to Mugello and allowed 2,000 spectators access to the circuit while Russia hopes to admit up to 30,000 spectators this coming weekend.

The Eifel Grand Prix will take place on the 9-11 October, and managing director of the circuit, Mirco Markfort said, "It is important to us in the first stage to offer tickets in different price categories.

"Of course, in times of COVID-19 and the enormous personnel and planning effort this entails, everything is a question of cost. But it's also about giving all fans the opportunity to secure tickets and enjoy the race safely“

The venue has confirmed safety protocols that will be in place, including individual car parks for each grandstand and a "visitor guidance system" that prevents fans from different grandstands meeting each other.

It has also been explained that face masks will be mandatory in the stands.
