Rossi offers update on Hamilton machine swap

Rossi offers update on Hamilton machine swap

Matthew Scott

Valentino Rossi says talks remain ongoing as the MotoGP legend looks to arrange a machine swap with Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton.

The pair have been long rumoured to have lined up a test day with each other's rides, Hamilton trialling a MotoGP bike for the first time and Rossi getting another run in an F1 car.

Rossi has previously tested a Ferrari and was even a long-shot contender to replace Michael Schumacher at the Scuderia in 2007.

The pair of world champions met at the MotoGP round in Qatar earlier this year and, although the trail has gone somewhat cold, Rossi still expects something to happen.

"It's been a while since we talked about it, it would be a beautiful thing," said Rossi.

"They are trying to organize a day in which he tries my M1 and I try his Mercedes, we hope to make it happen. Driving an F1 car is always cool."

The test could receive substantial backing from Monster energy drinks, which sponsors both Hamilton and Rossi, as well as their respective teams.
