Bottas sends clear message to haters: 'F*ck you'

Valtteri Bottas has sent a defiant message to his doubters and those who say he underperforms in the second half of the season, simply saying “f*ck you”.

The Finn is second in the drivers’ championship and won the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, but it was his first victory since Azerbaijan in April, leading to some to question his performances since.

He is happy he can finally silence some of the naysayers, though, after he stormed to the win at Suzuka.

“It's a good feeling. Obviously there's quite a lot of people who say I don't perform in the second half of the season. So for them, I can say, "fuck you".”

Thanks to the points recorded in Japan by Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, who finished third, Mercedes claimed their sixth constructors’ championship in a row, and the former is proud for the team - even if a driver’s preference would always be to win the drivers’ championship.

“It means a lot. As a driver, it's not as big a thing as the drivers' championship, for sure. That's a fact. But it does mean a lot,” he said after the race.

“Especially the sixth one, it's really impressive and doesn't happen every day. It's nice to know I've had to do something for it. Really proud for every single team member, for everyone in the race teams, and in the factories as well.

“It doesn't come easy. It comes through hard work.”

Bottas has never won a drivers’ title, and he is conscience that if he is to achieve that dream he’ll have to find a way to overcome his team-mate, Hamilton.

“If I one day wanna win the championship alongside Lewis, I have to beat him. And now there's other competition as well - not just Lewis,” he admitted.
