Silverstone won't suit Ferrari - Binotto
The British GP is this weekend.
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto believes that the team could potentially struggle at the upcoming British Grand Prix, as the track at Silverstone doesn’t suit their car.
The Scuderia have, at points, displayed extremely quick pace this season, particularly on straights, but their lack of speed at corners has left them without a win in 2019, with Mercedes dominating at the top of the championship.
The last GP in Austria saw Charles Leclerc take pole and lead the majority of the race, before Max Verstappen pounced with two laps remaining to win.
Despite the loss, it was a positive outing for Ferrari, but Binotto thinks Silverstone doesn’t play to their strengths like the Red Bull Ring did.
“Silverstone is one of the toughest tracks of the season, providing a real test of a car’s set-up and balance,” the Italian said.
“Tyres also come under a lot of strain here and the amount they wear plays a key role in how your race pans out.
“We do not expect Silverstone to suit our car particularly well, but at every race, we have seen that the balance of power can change, often unexpectedly.”

Binotto went on to reveal that Ferrari plan to introduce slight car changes for the race this weekend.
“For the British Grand Prix we are bringing a further small aerodynamic modification as we continue to push hard on the development of our car,” he added.
“The weekend will also be an opportunity to increase our understanding of the recent work we did, which has seen us close the gap to our competitors on specific types of track.”
