Ferrari drop Mission Winnow again in France... and sponsor may be gone for good

Ferrari will once again run without major sponsor Mission Winnow on the SF90's livery at the French Grand Prix, while Motorsport.com has reported that the branding may be dropped by the Scuderia, and Italian MotoGP squad Ducati, for the remainder of 2019.

Mission Winnow adorned the cars of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc in each race from Bahrain to Monaco this year, while it was also in Ferrari's official team name briefly, having been introduced in Japan last year.

However, the sponsor was dropped in Australia amid an investigation into its presence flouting a ban on tobacco advertisement.

When announced last year, Mission Winnow was presented as an initiative from long-time Ferrari sponsors Philip Morris “to create engagement around the role of science, technology and innovation as a powerful force for good in any industry”.

Ferrari famously carried Philip Morris' brand Marlboro for many years until the ban on tobacco advertising in F1.

Philip Morris spokesman, Simon Dowding, is quoted by Motorsport: "As announced at the start of the season, we may on a race-by-race basis provide opportunities to our partners to communicate messages in place of Mission Winnow.

"As was the case in Australia and Canada, Scuderia Ferrari will again celebrate their 90th anniversary on the livery and team uniforms at the Formula 1 GP in France this weekend. We will continue to share more information as appropriate ahead of each race."
