Gold from races past in Barcelona!

As it's Spanish Grand Prix week, it would be rude not to turn the clock back three years (can it really be three years!) and look at the infamous 2016 edition. The pre-race headlines had been dominated by Max Verstappen's promotion to Red bull and the Dutchman would dominate the chatter after the grand prix too.

Verstappen had been promoted from Toro Rosso, with Daniil Kvyat moving in the opposite direction after a troubled start to the campaign, which came to a head when he collided with Sebastian Vettel at the start of the Russian Grand Prix.

Come race day, the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were expected to dominate as per usual, and they duly qualified on the front row, with Hamilton on pole.

Rosberg got around his team-mate at Turn 1, however, and Hamilton's desperation to take back the lead put him on the grass and spinning into the rear tyres of his team-mate, who was slow moving due to an incorrect power mode.

The incident wiped out both in an instant and suddenly threw the race wide open. Daniel Ricciardo led from Verstappen, with Red Bull suddenly the fastest cars on-track.

Red Bull's strategy would ultimately favour the Dutchman, as he stopped one fewer time than Ricciardo and held on at the front of the pack to become F1's youngest race-winner at just 18 years and 228 days – a record that may never be broken.
