VIDEO: Gasly confidence high ahead of Bahrain return

His best F1 result came here last year.

Pierre Gasly secured the finest result of his Formula 1 career to date by finishing fourth at last year's Bahrain Grand Prix, giving the Frenchman plenty of confidence ahead of a return to Sakhir this weekend, having graduated from Toro Rosso to Red Bull.

The demise of both Red Bull cars in the desert played into Gasly's hands a year ago as he converted the fifth spot on the grid into a huge haul for Toro Rosso.

His fourth place was Honda's best result since returning to F1 in 2015 right up until two weeks ago when Max Verstappen put the Red Bull on the podium at the Australian Grand Prix in the team's first race with the Japanese marque.

Gasly struggled in Melbourne, finishing 11th after he was let down by a strategy bunder in qualifying and then struggling to overtake the returning Daniil Kvyat in his former team.

However, the 23-year-old is taking inspiration from his previous exploits in Bahrain and described his ambition to Mobil 1 The Grid.
