Alonso can't recall a track highlight from time with McLaren
Fernando Alonso has struggled to name a clear highlight from his time as a McLaren-Honda driver, having failed to make a single podium spot since making the move from Ferrari in 2015, but had nothing but positive things to say about the constructor team behind the scenes.
The two-time world champion switched from Ferrari to McLaren in the hope of claiming a third title, but the move has not worked out in terms of results, leaving the Spaniard unable to name a particular on-track high point. When asked to name his highlight from his tenure with McLaren-Honda, Alonso could only manage some praise for the members of the constructor team.
"Probably in the performance side or in the races, it is difficult to pick out one side because the performance was never there," he told reporters at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"Even the P5 in Monaco last year was not as fun as it should be.
"I think what I take from the last three years is the commitment and the spirit in the team, which has been amazing."
Alonso didn't speak positively about his time with the Japanese engine manufacturer, but in the 2018 season will see McLaren change to Renault engines.

He has had bigger and better successes with other teams, like Ferrari, but had nothing but positive things to say about the team behind the scenes.
He added: "I had some highs and lows in my career with different teams and different performances, but it was the first time with the kinds of performance we had on Sunday that the team was fully committed for the next race, the next step and the next aero update.
"There was not a single person giving up with the performance we had, so that's the thing I have taken from the last few years and the lesson I will take for longer."
