Gasly to start Canadian GP last

Pierre Gasly will start from the back of the grid at the Canadian Grand Prix after changing his power unit for the second time in the race weekend. Gasly could only qualify 16th after being forced to run an old-spec engine on Saturday, but the fresh PU is now ready to use.

Gasly has changed all elements of his power unit for the Montreal race, with a change of Internal Combustion Engline - his fourth of 2018 - prompting a 10-place grid penalty.

Toro Rosso were keen to avoid a penalty at their 'home' race in Austria, which is in three weeks' time.

Update ???????? Having reverted back to the older PU on Gasly’s car before Qualifying, we are changing it for another unit prior to today’s race. The team based this decision on his grid position and future PU allocation plans. Interestingly, the move will give sister team Red Bull more data on the new Honda engine as they plot a course for the 2019 season.

According to reports, Red Bull are inching towards a deal with the Japanese marque, after 12 years with Renault.

Both Gasly and Brendon Hartley are running the new PU in Montreal. Hartley will start from 12th on the grid.
