I don't understand Hamilton's lifestyle - Verstappen

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has admitted that he doesn't follow many of his fellow driver's antics on social media, but added that he is 'perplexed' by Lewis Hamilton's lifestyle, with the world champion regularly posting images of his latest adventures.

The emerging Dutch driver has enjoyed a frustrating season that has also contained high points such as his victories in Malaysia and Mexico, and is itching to get this season out of the way so that preparations can begin for the 2018 campaign.

Speaking to publication De Telegraaf, Verstappen looked ahead to the downtime that will come after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is over, and said that he doesn't know how Hamilton manages to fit so much activities in.

He said: "I don’t follow many drivers on social media. I follow Daniel [Ricciardo]. And Lewis. And Pierre [Gasly] because he’s a nice guy.

“When I see what Lewis does in his free time, I’m sometimes really perplexed.

“He does so much! It’s his life and he wins races and championships so it’s fine. You can hardly say it doesn’t work for him.”

Verstappen was also asked to assess how he felt the season as a whole had went, and he added that while he enjoyed some moments, the lack of reliability in the car proved to be a real negative, with too many DNF's hurting the team's performance.

He added: Fairly positive with two wins, but in general this season was a missed opportunity.

“We failed to finish too often which has to be improved on for next year. It’s character building. You have to stay positive in the tougher moments and we’ve had plenty of them.”

Verstappen is expected to team up with Daniel Ricciardo again at Red Bull for the 2018 campaign.
