Mercedes F1 team announces Dutch Grand Prix tribute after death of much-loved team member

Mercedes are racing with a special tribute to a much-loved team member at this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix.

Mercedes made the reveal on their social media channels ahead of the action in Zandvoort, unveiling a special decal to honor late team member Kath Goodall. The Dutch Grand Prix takes place later today (Sunday August 23) at 3pm local time (2pm BST).

Goodall sadly passed away last week, having been with the team for over five years, working as part of their finance department.

Mercedes will now race with the decal in her honor on the cars of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell in the Netherlands, which reads: "In loving memory of Kath Goodall."

Mercedes pay tribute to late team member at Zandvoort

Sharing images of the decal on social media this weekend, Mercedes shared a heartfelt statement on Goodall and how she will be remembered.

"Racing for Kath. This weekend we will pay tribute to our dear colleague and friend, Kath Goodall, who we sadly lost last week," Mercedes wrote on X. "Kath will be remembered for her kindness, professionalism, and the positive impact she had on those around her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. "In her honour, we carry Kath’s name on our car this weekend."

With the decal on his car, Russell went on to secure pole position for Saturday's Sprint race, and the British driver converted that into a win on Saturday afternoon.
