Classic Kimi: 'Pointless' question gets short shrift from Raikkonen

Originally written by Joas van Wingerden. This version is a translation.

Kimi Raikkonen was on typically guarded form when asked to divulge what he would change about Formula 1, as fans await confirmation of Liberty Media's plans for the sport. The Ferrari driver offered a withering response to the "pointless" question and then explained why he does not care for Liberty's proposals.

Liberty are expected to reveal their outlook for F1 in 2021 and beyond on Friday at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Ferrari have voiced concern with Liberty's vision and CEO Sergio Marchionne has threated to pull the Scuderia out of the sport.

Far from toeing the company line, Raikkonen's frustration with the line of questioning in Thursday's press conference perhaps ran on the Finn's familiar media-shy lines.

"I wouldn't change anything," Raikkonen said when asked what he would change about F1.

"I don't have the power so what's the point to waste the time and even think about it? I don't understand.

"What's the point for me? To give you a list but then I have zero power? You understand? We don't make the rules.

"What's the point in even telling and making a story out of it?"

Liberty have reportedly sought advice from the drivers as they look to take F1 forwards, although the sage views of Raikkonen might have been tougher to extract.

"In the end it's not our decision it's up to them it's their business, they make plans and decisions what they feel is correct," he said.

"I don't know what they're doing, I know very little and I'm not interested either so we'll see what they say.

"It's in many years' time and I doubt I'll be here, so I don't really care."
