Aston Martin not fazed by challenges of Vettel's driving style
Aston Martin is unconcerned by the perception that Sebastian Vettel's driving style will make car set-up difficult.
Vettel will make his bow for the British team at the Bahrain Grand Prix later this month after making the switch from Ferrari to replace Sergio Perez.
Technical director Andrew Green is confident Aston Martin can accommodate Vettel's set-up preferences, even claiming his style is easier to manage than his predecessor, Sergio Perez.
"Yes, he does have his own personal driving style, but that is no different to the driving styles we have seen from other drivers," said Green.
"I would say not as extreme as the driver he is replacing, who had a very extreme driving style. It was very difficult to get right at all tracks.
"It shone at certain tracks and didn't at others. I think Seb's style is a lot less extreme and we have the capability to tune the car to suit him, for sure.
"We have been working on that for the last month in the simulator and he looks very happy with the direction, so no problems there."
Vettel, who last week had his first taste of the AMR21 via a shakedown at Silverstone post-launch, will only have a day-and-a-half of pre-season testing in Bahrain this weekend ahead of the season-opener to become accustomed to the car.
Although the German is naturally aiming to return to winning ways with his new team, when asked if the car would suit his driving style, the four-time champion said "I don't know. Every car behaves like it behaves.
"Of course, you have certain preferences but if you are in charge and happy with everything that is going on around you then I think you are very quickly on top of the car and you just do what needs to be done.
“You try to find the edge, some way or another you adapt and so on."
