Tricky Turkey track can provide chance for smaller teams - Grosjean
Haas driver Romain Grosjean believes the difficult conditions at the Turkish Grand Prix could allow his team to capitalise and secure a positive result.
Drivers struggled for grip on Formula 1's return to Istanbul Park due to a new track surface and cool temperatures, with the leaderboard shuffled compared to the usual pecking order.
Grosjean, though, has pointed to the unusual circumstances that are due to continue across the weekend as an opening for Haas.
"It was slippery, that is the least we can say," he said. "It is expected with the new Tarmac.
"I suggested to the team that everyone involved in Formula 1 should get in rental cars and go on the track between the two sessions to get the dust off, but it was slippery.
"The more tricky it is, the more opportunities there could be for a team like Haas.
"Every time [there is a tricky weekend] we have managed to do something so hopefully we can do something this weekend. That is all we try to do.
"It is not fantastic to see that we are running close to the end but we try our best and if anything happens then we make sure we use the experience."
Another team looking to use the tricky conditions to its advantage is Alfa Romeo, who will be hoping to build on the momentum of a double-points finish at the last race in Imola.
Antonio Giovinazzi suggested that even though the rest of the weekend will be as tough as Friday, he can put himself in a good position with a solid qualifying lap.
"We need to try [to take advantage]," he said. "Anything can happen in these conditions.
"It is difficult to put it all together so we need to be sharp and put in a lap in quali and then we will see. The race will also be really tough. Everything is difficult but in these conditions, things can go in the right way."
