F1 to sell chequered flag squares for charity

If you have ever fancied owning an unusual piece of Formula 1 memorabilia, now is your chance - and you can raise money for a good cause at the same time.

In support of the newly launched #WeRaceAsOne campaign, fans are being offered the chance to have their name printed on a square of the chequered flag that will be waved at the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix on July 5.

The opportunity will also be afforded at subsequent races throughout the season.

The square, which cannot be chosen and will be selected at random, will be mounted and framed.

It will also include an official photograph of that particular race, along with a plaque to mark the occasion, and a hologram to guarantee authenticity.

The flags are limited to 56 squares of the 80 available, with the remaining 24 to be distributed to the race promoters to determine their destination.

And the cost? £199.99. Remember, it's for charity. No grey areas about this idea!
