Norris and Sainz excited to see the German Grand Prix on 'Drive to Survive'
One of the races of the year
McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz are looking forward to season two of the Netflix documentary 'Drive to Survive' for the same reason as most fans...the chance to relive the German Grand Prix.
For season one of 'Drive to Survive', all teams allowed the Netflix cameras access all areas. All teams except for two that was.
Mercedes and Ferrari both decided not to participate but, following the success of the documentary series, both elected to allow the cameras access for a single race in 2019. That race was the German Grand Prix.
Asked at the series premier what they were looking forward to seeing in the series this time around, Lando Norris said without hesitation, "Hockenheimring, Mercedes."
Sainz added, "I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of Mercedes and Ferrari, because it's the first time they are there [allowing access to Drive to Survive cameras]. The rest, I think it will just be a continuation of all of the characters that filmed with Netflix last year."
It is doubtful that many fans will disagree with the two McLaren drivers. Sebastian Vettel climbing from the back of the grid to finish second in the only good news for the two teams combined, while Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas slid off the track and out of the race and Lewis Hamilton slid off twice, making contact with the wall once and enduring a minute long stop to change the front wing.
Even worse than simply being a home race for Mercedes and the only time the will feature in the series this time around, the race was the German manufacturer's 200th Grand Prix start and the race where they were celebrating 125 years of competing in motorsport.
For anyone outside of Mercedes, this portion of the series is not to be missed.
