Vettel is 'not getting enough' from Ferrari
Gerhard Berger says Sebastian Vettel is "running out of time" and must extract greater performance from his Ferrari team if he is to enjoy success with the Scuderia.
As Formula 1 returns to racing this week at the Belgian Grand Prix, it is now a year since Vettel won a race, at Spa-Francorchamps 12 moths ago, as last season's title fight fizzled out and one failed to materialise in 2019.
The errors that characterised last year's fall from the fight with Lewis Hamilton have been on show again this year, while Ferrari have failed to get the best from the SF90, which had looked the car to beat in pre-season testing.
Berger compared Vettel's plight with Michael Schumacher's success at Ferrari, which was centred on leading the team's development in most aspects.
"Coping with this situation is not easy for Sebastian," Berger told DPA. "He is running out of time.
"Sebastian is not getting enough from the team right now.
"He's a little bit different to Michael, who was much stricter with the team and directed them more, which is not a criticism of Sebastian, who is very hard-working and very clever, but that's not his nature.
"It's the management's duty to make the team work."
The high-speed nature of Spa is expected to play into Ferrari's hands this weekend, with Vettel having won three previous editions of the Belgian GP.
