Ricciardo wants Renault return to form at Silverstone
Daniel Ricciardo is hoping that Renault can return to form at the British Grand Prix this weekend after both he and team-mate Nico Hulkenberg finished outside the points at the Austrian GP.
Before the season, the atmosphere at the French team was positive, with speculation mounting that they could potential compete with the elite trio of Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull.
However, whether it be through lack of pace or technical engine issues, they have been usurped to that fourth position spot by an impressive McLaren outfit.
After a race in which no points were scored at the Red Bull Ring, Ricciardo wants improvement at Silverstone.
"Obviously, Austria did not go to plan. We had been on a nice run of form before that and the aim is to get back to that in Silverstone,” the Australian assured.
"We'll be putting in the hard work and I'm confident we'll have a good weekend.
Ricciardo went on to reveal that Silverstone is one of his favourite tracks, for sentimentality more than anything else.
"Silverstone will always be a special one for me, as it's where I made my Formula 1 debut in 2011. I've always loved Silverstone, it's a pretty epic track,” he added.
"It just has this nice flow to it, it's all very high-speed and a great venue for Formula 1. You get a real buzz on every lap as there's a lot of brave corners to get right."
In terms of individual performance, Ricciardo is 10th in the drivers’ championship.
