Hamilton has 'an exceptional power' - Wolff

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff says Lewis Hamilton is boosted by "an exceptional power" thanks to his religious faith. Hamilton is a devout Christian and has many religious-inspired tattoos, while he has often been quick to thank God for his on-track successes.

The four-time world champion makes no secret of his faith and recently said in an interview with Formula 1's 'Beyond the Grid' podcast how it helped to inspire him while racing.

"I wouldn't say F1 is worth dying for," he said. "Your dream, passion, ambition and goals can be worth dying for. Anything can happen any day, but I feel God has his hand over me.

"Nothing is a given and there's nothing that's written that says I am going to live until 100 years old, or that I will live to see my next birthday. I'm just going to make sure I get everything in between now and the next day."

Love conquers all. Giving all the glory to God????????

While his racing instinct, skill and aggression are certainly also factors in Hamilton's success, Wolff believes the mental focus passed down from religion may also be of help.

The Silver Arrows' boss is quick to encourage Hamilton's faith, if it continues to help him achieve on-track triumphs.

"Lewis has a very clear vision of what he believes," says Wolff.

"It makes him the most successful, modern driver in Formula 1. And I think we should see it as inspiration how he can find more and more strength in difficult periods.

"It gives him an exceptional power. And where I come from, I have learned not to judge people on what they need to perform well."
