Alonso: Monaco is easiest of Triple Crown events
Having won the Le Mans 24 Hours two weeks ago, Fernando Alonso is now two-thirds of his way towards achieving the motorsport 'triple-crown', but having experienced all three disciplines including, the Spaniard thinks the Monaco Grand Prix is the "easiest" of the three feats.
The triple crown includes victories at Monaco, Le Mans, and the Indianapolis 500 as part of the 'Indy Series', and although he has not yet won the latter he has experience in that particular discipline.
With two in the bag and the desire for the third growing, he believes that the win a Monaco will ultimately prove to be the most simple.
“Probably the easiest would be Monaco, because if you are that season in the best package possible and you put in a lap on Saturday, 99 per cent of the win is there, " Alonso admitted.
“You need to have the best car on that weekend.
“On the others, I think the show is bigger, because they do it once a year, so I think the driver presentation and the build up to the weekend, the race itself, everything is bigger because it’s once a year.

“The driver’s parade is in town, in Indianapolis or Le Mans, and you feel a lot of preparations into the race, so you feel a different atmosphere. From a driver’s point of view, they all feel very special, very unique, and each one requires different style.”
Once again, Alonso fielded questions on his future, but remained tight-lipped about his plans for the future and whether he will remain in Formula One or go full time in Indy Car to go for that triple crown.
“I think one thing that we need to wait and see a couple of months now [what] is really the commitment of all the parties into F1 projects and to the future, what will be the seats that next year they move on and which will be the driver line-ups in some of the top teams as well,” he continued.
“After that, let’s see what the future brings, also what the projects on the Indy 500 and the triple crown, whatever feels attractive.
“Right now, I’m still digesting a bit the Le Mans win, trying to enjoy every minute and not thinking too much about next year’s project.”
