Lights Out: Alonso not pessimistic, Hamilton wants multiple GP winners

Lewis Hamilton rallying the troops and claiming he wants other people to share some of his glory, Fernando Alonso is still looking forward to the new season despite troubles during testing, while Alain Prost is confident that Renault will continue to improve. It's Lights Out for Wednesday morning!

Alonso has insisted that he is "not pessimistic" about McLaren's chances this season despite the team once again enduring engine reliability issues - even after ditching Honda for Renault.

Even with that soundbite of positivity from the Spaniard, he has revealed that he seriously considered quitting Formula One altogether last season in order to pursue the 'triple crown.

Speaking of Renault, Prost reckons that the French manufacturer will continue to develop in 2018, but refused to provide any time period for targeting success.

Lewis Hamilton visited the Mercedes factory base this week, and rallied the troops with a cry of "title number five is the ultimate goal" in reference to both his driver's title and the Silver Arrows' constructor's championship.

The current world champion, rather surprisingly, has claimed that he wants to see multiple winners of Grand Prix races over the season as it would make the sport a better spectacle for the fans.

Alfa Romeo Sauber boss Fred Vasseur has no concerns over the talent of Charles Leclerc, and has backed the 19-year-old to make "the biggest" step of his career so far up to Formula One from F1.
