Horner stresses "fine margins" in Red Bull success

Christian Horner has stressed "fine margins" were all that separated Red Bull and Ferrari after Max Verstappen took victory at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The reigning world champion duelled with Ferrar's Charles Leclerc at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in a battle that showcased each driver's mental capacity as well as racing ability, given the tactical awareness needed in the final DRS detection zone.

The fight between the pair raged on for multiple laps with no clear difference between the speeds of the two cars, with Leclerc sticking to the back of the RB18 once overtaken.

Verstappen was followed by Sergio Perez, who finished fourth, as Red Bull moved a point behind Mercedes in the standings having left the opening round in Bahrain scoreless due to a double retirement.

Speaking to F1 Nation, Red Bull team principal Horner said: "It is great to be on the board.

"After the difficulties of [Bahrain], the bounceback from the team has been outstanding. The support we had from the factory throughout the week was outstanding.

"The mechanics, the engineers, the way they worked on these cars in difficult conditions have been absolutely first class and that race, Max payed them back in the best way possible with a great victory."

"It was such a competitive race between ourselves and Ferrari, it was just really fine margins."
