Russell reveals helmet design for Mercedes debut season

George Russell has revealed his crash helmet design ahead of his first season as a Mercedes driver.

The Briton will race alongside Lewis Hamilton after being promoted from Williams, becoming the first driver to graduate from the Silver Arrows' junior programme to the full works team.

Russell ran with a predominantly red design last season and during the post-season test with Mercedes but has now opted for black artwork with streaks of red and blue.

The reveal comes on Russell's 24th birthday and ahead of the launch of the W13 which Mercedes hopes will help take back the drivers' title lost to Max Verstappen and Red Bull as F1 enters its new era.

The car will make its on-track debut with a shakedown at Silverstone on launch day [February 18] before heading to Barcelona for the first pre-season test on February 23.
