Raikkonen claims F1 future "in my hands"

Kimi Raikkonen has claimed the decision on whether he remains at Alfa Romeo into 2022 is "in my hands".

Aged 41, 2007 champion Raikkonen is the oldest driver on the grid and has endured a difficult season so far.

Although the Finn leads team-mate Antonio Giovinazzi six-five in races, he trails seven-four in qualifying. In the standings, however, Raikkonen remains ahead on two points to Giovinazzi's one.

Asked if he has made a decision whether to in F1 continue or not, Raikkonen said: "Obviously, the decision will be in my hands, if I want to go on or not, it is completely my decision in the first place.

"I haven’t really thought about it too much.

"I will go as I feel and see what happens and not stress about any of it. We will see."

Raikkonen's points tally is equal to that of last season after 11 races, but the Finn conceded his season was: "Not ups, only downs."

"That is where we are," he explained. "We have some tracks we can be in tenth but usually we are just out of it.

"Normally when we try to fight, there is always some faster cars but we will keep trying and we will see what we can do."
