Horner uncovers superstitious "lucky toilet" in Baku
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has provided detail as to how he deals with superstitions before F1 grands prix.
Horner will hope for the same luck to emerge from his pre-race habits at this weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix as it did last time out in Monaco, where the team took the lead in both the drivers' and constructors' championships.
Writing in his column for Red Bull, Horner initially spoke of his lucky toilet in Baku after making the revelation he has one at every circuit on the calendar on the 'Pardon My Take' podcast.
"This subject came up in a recent podcast and, of course, Baku has a lucky toilet!" said Horner.
"Every track has one! It is the 2017 toilet that has been nominated, although it was not very lucky in 2018!
"I am a little superstitious. I have a couple of little things I like to do before a race.
"I always approach the driver from the right-hand side and always make sure I shake their hand and look them in the eyes before the race, so I suppose that is a little ritual."
Horner understands pre-race habits
On individual drivers, Horner revealed any superstition was a way of focusing the mind in preparation for the events about to take place.
"There have been few superstitious drivers at the team over the years," he added.
"I think Checo [Perez] has a few things he does. But it is more of a way of getting yourself in the zone.
"Some drivers put their crash helmet on before they get in the car or get in from a certain side or do one boot up before the other, but there has been nothing too extreme that I can remember."
