Budget cap allows Red Bull to have 'two equal teams' - Brown
Will Red Bull be the big winners when the cap is introduced?
Red Bull could have two equally competitive teams when the Formula 1 budget cap is introduced, according to Zak Brown.
The sport will see a cap of $145million implemented from next season, with the figure being reduced over time afterwards.
McLaren CEO Brown believes Red Bull may be in the best position to capitalise on the regulations.
"Where the rules have landed are right in the sweet spot of McLaren," Brown told the F1 Nation podcast.
"I think if I look at the top three spending teams, they have plenty of resource so they'll have challenges in scaling back but that's kind of a good problem to have, so I think they'll be as competitive as ever.
"Then I think you'll have three or four teams, ourselves, Renault, Racing Point and Alpha Tauri.
"Red Bull, if I am Dr. Helmut Marko I now have two teams and collectively I can spend my resources and create two equal teams.
"I think that they are a big winner out of all of this."
One aim of the budget cap is to promote a level playing field and balance the competition, something Brown believes can be achieved.
"It closes the budget gap," Brown added.
"I'm not sure if Sauber, Haas and Williams will run at the cap, but the difference between where they are today and where the cap will be will certainly be tighter.
"I think everyone is a winner at the end of the day, and it is going to make for fairer, more balanced competition."
