Horner: Coronavirus situation 'changes almost by the hour'

Formula One opening rounds in doubt as more sporting fixtures are axed

Red Bull boss Christian Horner says that Formula One teams are keeping a close eye on the developing situation surrounding the outbreak of the coronavirus.

MotoGP have cancelled their first two rounds of the season in Qatar and Thailand and Horner says that Formula One teams are prepared to follow any and all guidance issued by governments.

"In all seriousness we have to follow guidance from the countries, governments and our own governments and governing bodies," said Horner at pre-season testing.

"It is a moving target. It changes almost by the hour at the moment so I think we have to keep a watching brief, be responsible in how we act and logistically moving people around the world at the moment has its challenges.

"Everybody is finding out which hubs they will be going through en route to Australia.

"As I said it is a moving target so all we can do is follow the advice of the governing body and the local governments."

Australian Grand Prix officials have said that the race will go ahead as planned but, with Italy being the worst affected country in Europe, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, AlphaTauri and Haas could all face difficulties if travel restrictions are put in force.
