Meeting planned with Danish Grand Prix on agenda

Formula One bosses, including CEO Chase Carey, are expected to be in Copenhagen next week for a meeting to discuss the potential for a Danish Grand Prix in the future, as they review and assess the proposed city location for the race.

F1 owners Liberty Media have been looking at a number of venues which may lead to an increase in races on the calendar in years to come, with a return to the Netherlands also mooted.

A race in Denmark would go some way to appeasing the the Scandinavian audience, particularly Sweden and Finland, who have been without a GP and would be expected to travel in their numbers to attend.

A proposal was initially discussed in July, and Carey is due to arrive in the city on January 10 to meet with Helge Sander, a former government minister, and Lars Seier Christensen, whose former company Saxo Bank, has been involved in F1 in the past.

The city race layout has been inspired by the track in Baku, Azerbaijan, which was praised for its fast straights and the manner in which it showcased downtown landmarks.

Should the proposal move forward we could see a Grand Prix in Copenhagen as soon as 2020.
