VIDEO: Schumacher suffers first F2 retirement

VIDEO: Schumacher suffers first F2 retirement

Mick Schumacher suffered has first DNF in Formula 2, having spun out of contention in the Azerbaijan Feature Race. Having started sixth on the grid, Schumacher looked on course for a potential points finish until he spun out after getting on the kerbs at Turn 16 in Baku.

The 20-year-old had made a punchy start, locking up on the run down to the chaotic Turn 1 off the line and pushing title challenger Luca Ghiotto off the track.

Schumacher had recovered and was running net fifth when he suffered a spin, bringing out the Virtual Safety Car.

Unable to keep the wheels spinning, Schumacher retired on the spot, his first non-finish since graduating to F2, having scored points in both races at the previous round in Bahrain.

Jack Aitken went on to win a crazy race which ran to the hour time limit, with Nyck de Vries and Jordan King on the podium.
