Schumacher takes F3 lead as F1 rumours swell
Mick Schumacher took over as leader of European Formula 3 with a fine victory in the wet at the Red Bull Ring on Saturday. Victory in the first of three races at the event in Austria put the German above Red Bull junior driver Dan Ticktum, who could only finish eighth.
Support for the son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher has swelled in recent weeks as he has picked up remarkable form towards the end of the F3 season.
Victory in Spielberg was Schumacher's fourth in a row after a whitewash at the Nurburgring.
A dominant win in the wet from pole has echoes of his famous father and the 19-year-old was delighted with his efforts.
Here's how Schumacher reacted to his seventh win of the season:
Schumacher has been linked with a shock move to Toro Rosso in 2019 recently, although the team are still said to favour Ticktum, despite his inability to accrue enough superlicence points before 2018 is through.
While Schumacher already has the requisite 40 points, Ticktum could be entered in competitions early in 2019 in order to form a likely partnership with Daniil Kvyat in Red Bull's sister team.
