Raikkonen and Verstappen take new engine parts in Singapore

Both Kimi Raikkonen have fitted new power unit parts ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, the FIA have confirmed. The Ferrari and Red Bull men have each taken a fresh MGU-H – their third of the season respectively, meaning neither will have to serve a grid penalty at Marina Bay.

The pair will have designs on a strong qualifying performance, with Raikkonen looking to back up his pole position at Monza after being told he will not race for Ferrari in 2019.

Verstappen started last year's race on the front row of the grid, but could not capitalise as he was caught in a tangle with Sebastian Vettel and Raikkonen which ended their races at the first corner.

Raikkonen topped the timesheets in FP2 on Friday, with Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton just 0.011 seconds off the pace.

With a potential three-team battle for Saturday honours, Raikkonen and Verstappen will both be boosted by fresh power in the form of the heat energy recovery system.

If either driver requires another MGU-H to be fitted between now and the end of the season, it will incur a grid penalty.
