New trackside hotel set for Silverstone
A brand new hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn, is set to be built alongside the circuit at Silverstone with construction, including a rooftop terrace and 197 rooms, set to be completed by 2020 according to the Managing Director of the track, Stuart Pringle.
The new Hilton will offer hospitality packages for all major sporting events held at Silverstone, including the British Grand Prix should it be held at the venue.
In a statement by Pringle, the Silverstone director claims that the decision for the construction comes from increased interest and demand in visitors to the track.
"The Silverstone Experience – a brand new visitor attraction celebrating the past, present and future of the circuit and British motorsport opens in Spring 2019 and this, along with our increased growth in the conference and exhibition side of the business, has resulted in a growing demand for quality accommodation at the circuit, " the statement read.
Balconies will be placed so that visitors can view the start/finish line of the track from their rooms, while the hotel itself will have direct access to the SIlverstone Wing Conference Centre.
“The Wing, which will have direct access to the hotel, has helped elevate Silverstone to more than just a racetrack. Our partnership with Hilton and the opening of Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone will enhance the circuit’s appeal, offering quality hospitality year-round," says Peter Prickett, CEO of Bricks Capital Ltd who have been tasked with the build.
The current deal for the British Grand Prix to be held at Silverstone runs out at the end of 2019, but should that contract be extended, visitorship is expected to increase by at least half-a-million by 2020.
