Some things on halo need to change - Vettel

Originally written by Joas van Wingerden. This version is a translation.

Former world champion Sebastian Vettel has admitted that he is 'not looking forward' to the introduction of the halo for the 2018 season, and that some parts of the design will need to be changed to allow the drivers to properly adapt to the changes.

The German, who finished the 2017 campaign in second position behind Lewis Hamilton, has added his opinion to the growing list of dissenters against the introduction of the design.

Pundit Martin Brundle referred to the halo as 'the worst technical change he had ever seen in F1' while Red Bull boss Christian Horner has issued his dismay at the alterations that are required in order to make it work efficiently for the car.

Hamilton also bemoaned that the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix would be the 'last one with cars looking good', as the halo continues to receive criticism from all quarters.

Vettel stated that he is concerned about his introduction, but added a positive perspective that drivers will adapt, as they always do, to the changes.

He said: "I’m not looking forward to it, but it’s part of the game. I’m sure we’ll get used to it. I’ve tried now a couple of times, for sure some things need to change, like the start lights on the grid.

“You need to play around a little bit – but I think we will when we get to next year’s cars. But yeah it’s in the front of your face, in front of your helmet – you get used to it, though.

“What you need to see, you can still see, otherwise we wouldn’t introduce it.”
