Ricciardo: I don't want Monaco to be my last hurrah
A tired Daniel Ricciardo had admitted that he is looking forward to a week off, and added that he doesn't want his Monaco win from earlier in the season to be his 'last hurrah' after finishing in fifth position at the British Grand Prix
As team-mate Max Verstappen failed to finish the race, Ricciardo chased down Valtteri Bottas but couldn't get past him into fourth place to bring the Triple Header to a disappointing end for him and the Red Bull team as a whole.
Ricciardo has suffered from a range of issues since winning in Monaco four races ago, effectively ending any vague hopes of winning the world championship.
His future remains the subject of much discussion and while it appears clearer that he will remain at Red Bull next season, the longer the contract remains unsigned, the longer the speculation will continue.
He said to Sky Sports F1 after the race: "We didn't have the legs [to take on Valtteri Bottas]. I could get close but it started to kill my tyres when I got too close to him so we have to ease off.
"I'm actually looking forward to a week off.
"In the triple header we had something in every race which hasn't went our way. Since Monaco we haven't had things go our way. I'll still take a Monaco win but I don't want that to be a last hurrah.
"We've had bits and pieces not go our way in the last three. But I'm looking forward to a week away from race cars."
The F1 calendar returns in two weeks time in Germany, followed by Hungary at the end of the month before the mid-season summer break in August, where F1 takes four weeks off before returning in Belgium.
