F1 champion Max Verstappen returned to the Nurburgring Nordschleife this weekend for the 58th ADAC Barbarossa Prize and the opening round of the 2026 Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS).

Verstappen, alongside team-mates Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon, was at first victorious once again in a GT car, this time piloting the No.3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing AMG GT3.

However, after claiming pole position where he set the fastest time of 7:51.751 and going on to win Saturday's NLS2, Verstappen and the Winward Mercedes-AMG team were stripped of their victory.

Last September, Verstappen won on his debut with team-mate Chris Lulham at the NLS9 round, initially replicating this feat as he prepares for the Nurburgring 24 Hours (May 14-17, 2026).

But just hours after claiming his second win at the Nurburgring on March 21, the Dutchman's day was brought to a shocking end after it was announced he and his team-mates had been disqualified over a tyre rule breach on the No.3 Mercedes.

As a result, the second place No.99 BMW M4 GT3 EVO team who finished nearly a minute behind the Verstappen Racing trio have inherited the win, while the No.44 Porsche team have now been promoted to second.
