Lando Norris Wins Monaco Grand Prix to Close Gap to McLaren Team Mate in F1 Standings

Lando Norris Wins Monaco Grand Prix to Close Gap to McLaren Team Mate in F1 Standings

Lando Norris, Monaco GP, generic, 2025

McLaren continued their fine start to the season as Lando Norris secured the victory at the iconic Monaco Grand Prix, and in doing so, closed the gap to his teammate Oscar Piastri to just three points, with four-time world champion Max Verstappen back in third spot after the Belgian finished fourth in Monte Carlo.

Last season, when Verstappen won yet another Championship, McLaren won the constructors title, and the British team will hope to secure both individual and team success in 2025, and thus far, such an outcome looks fairly plausible.

F1 fans who want to bet on Norris or Piastri to win their first Formula One title can take a look at all the key analysis and insights of all the best sportsbook promos here to help make any such wager as productive as possible.

25-year-old Bristol-born driver Norris had a perfect weekend, clinching the pole position before winning in Monaco, finishing just over three seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Speaking of his momentous win, his first in the principality and second of the season, Norris commented.

"Today is incredible, but I was more emotional yesterday than I was today."

"That's how much yesterday meant to me, to kind of get my groove back in qualifying, because it's something I've just had my whole life.”

"It's just always been good, until this year. And I've had to work hard to try and get it back. For no other reason apart from a couple of things that I've clearly struggled with and also just having tough competition."

"Yesterday gave me confidence,"

"Today… yeah, nothing new in the sense of I've had confidence in every Sunday we've had this year. I've not needed the confidence on Sundays, but yesterday was a bigger day for me.”

"I was more proud of yesterday than I almost was of today. Not just because a pole in Monaco sets up a win, but the accomplishment of doing it, no matter what the track would have been, was something I'm more proud about.”

"So yeah, a good weekend for me, not just in terms of the result but personally, to kind of give myself that momentum, that boost, definitely makes me feel better going into Barcelona next week." Norris added.

When Verstappen clinched victory at the last race, at the Emilia-Romagna circuit, many may have felt the tide was inevitably going to turn, but Norris did manfully to stay the distance to help make this season’s driver’s championship as exciting as possible.

Ferrari also showed great improvement in Monaco, with driver Leclerc and Hamilton both finishing in the first five, the second time they have managed to do so, the other occasion coming in Bahrain.

There is still a great deal to do for Norris and Piastri to keep Verstappen at bay, and you can be sure that the Red Bull superstar will be well up for the challenge, and with the season being just a third of the way through, anything could happen.
