Belgian GP Weather Forecast: Rain to return on race day?

Belgian GP Weather Forecast: Rain to return on race day?

Matthew Scott

The weather at Spa-Francorchamps is changeable at the best of times, and things look wild for the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix.

Temperatures are set to rise from Friday practice to Saturday's qualifying, with track temperatures set to hit 40 degrees, and then plummet on race day, with a 20% chance of rain according to BBC Weather.

Showers have landed in the hours ahead of the race, although teams have reported that they expect the grand prix to pass without interference from the skies.

Rain made for an astonishing German GP before the summer break, while a wet qualifying at Spa shook things up 12 months ago as Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez filled the second row of the grid for the newly bought Force India, now Racing Point.

Sebastian Vettel won that race, but has now gone a year without adding to his 52 grand prix victories. Interestingly, few races have been held in such cold temperatures, much closer to the conditions that saw Ferrari look dominant in pre-season testing. Will it help the Scuderia to a first win of the year?
