Liberty Media hire composer to write F1 theme music

Liberty Media hire composer to write F1 theme music

Liberty Media has hired a prominent Hollywood composer to produce an official theme tune for Formula 1, as it looks to continue to make sweeping changes to the sport as part of its vision for the future.

Brian Tyler, who has been involved in the Fast and the Furious franchise, the Expendables, and a host of Marvel movies including Thor: the Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron, has been tasked with developing the music.

It is thought that Tyler's work will be utilised on F1's new on-demand TV service, though it is not clear if it will be offered to conventional TV broadcasters for use in their shows.

Tyler announced the news on Saturday evening on Twitter, with the following message:

Some fans, however, have stressed their dismay at the decision, with many referencing BBC1's use of the Fleetwood Mac classic 'The Chain' as being the definitive soundtrack to their F1 viewing.

But judgement can be reserved until Tyler's work is revealed, which will be in sync with the on-demand service rollout in various territories around the world.
