Norris trying to get back "in the right zone" after Euro 2020 mugging
Lando Norris has reassured fans he is "well" and trying to prepare in the best way for this weekend's British Grand Prix after being the victim of a mugging at the Euro 2020 final on Sunday.
The Wembley showpiece, which saw Italy crowned champions after defeating England on penalties, was attended by Norris who had earlier been present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
On Monday evening, McLaren released a statement confirming the incident involving Norris in which his £40,000 Richard Mille watch was stolen.
The British driver has subsequently thanked fans for their concern.
"Hi world," he wrote. "Thanks for all the messages everyone. Really means a lot to see so many messages of kindness and love from you all.
"Thought I'd let you know that I'm doing well and trying to make sure I'm ready and in the right zone for this weekend to perform at my best.
"Love you all and can't wait to see so many of you back at the track this weekend."
Norris "delighted" at British GP full house
Towards the end of June, Silverstone confirmed it had been included in the latest phase of the UK government’s Event Research Programme [ERP], allowing it to welcome a potential 140,000 fans on race day.
Although Silverstone ran back-to-back events in last year's COVID-affected season, both races took place behind closed doors.
But with fans set to flock back to the circuit this weekend, Norris said: “I’m very, very happy
"I’m delighted in fact, that we can have the British fans back and all of them as well, so I look forward to it.
"We missed it a lot last year, especially doing two races there, and it's been nice slowly having more and more [fans] through the season already here and there.
“So to go back to my home race, the first sprint race weekend as well so we have that to look forward to, the fans have that to look forward to, but just to have them all back and feeling more normal again is something I’m very excited for.”
