Mercedes confirms Grosjean test postponed

Mercedes has revealed it has been forced to postpone Romain Grosjean's test due to strict quarantine rules and travel restrictions.

Following his horrific crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix last year, Grosjean was unable to compete in what would have been the final two races of his F1 career.

In the aftermath, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was quick to offer the Frenchman the opportunity to test one of the Silver Arrows championship-winning cars.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed he would complete a demo run during the French Grand Prix weekend with a full test in the days following.

However, the demo run was cancelled when the French Grand Prix shifted forward by a week, a change that created a date clash with an IndyCar race at Road America.

The test was expected to take place as planned but the team has now confirmed this too has been postponed.

"We’re disappointed to announce that Romain Grosjean's Mercedes test has been postponed because of travel restrictions and quarantine requirements," said the team via social media.

"We're committed to giving Romain his chance in a Mercedes F1 car and we're working to reschedule the test later this summer."

Making light of the situation, Grosjean responded cheekily to Mercedes saying: "Just waiting for the latest aero update to come."
