Ferrari will not be selfish during crisis talks - Binotto
Chase Carey, Jean Todt and all teams involved in crucial conference call
Mattia Binotto has vowed Ferrari will not be selfish or tactically motivated at a meeting today when it comes to the prospect of pushing back the 2021 regulations.
Formula 1 chiefs Chase Carey and Ross Brawn, FIA president Jean Todt, along with the teams are to discuss during a conference call how best to move forward once the coronavirus pandemic has passed.
New regulations for next year were due to come into force, but there is now the real possibility they will instead be introduced in 2022.
Earlier this week, Ferrari was the only team not to vote in favour during a call involving all 10 teams, with Binotto apparently claiming he wanted time to evaluate the ramifications.
Ahead of today's meeting, and speaking to Formula1.com, Binotto said: “We will have a conference call with all the other teams, F1 and FIA to discuss the situation and the impact it has not only on this season but also on the next one.
“We must carefully evaluate every aspect and see if it is not really the case to think about possibly postponing the introduction of the new 2021 technical rules.
"In any case, Ferrari is ready to take responsibility for a choice that must be made in the ultimate interest of this sport. It is certainly not the time for selfishness and tactics."
The Australian Grand Prix has already been cancelled, while the subsequent races in Bahrain, Vietnam and China have been postponed. The May events in the Netherlands, Spain and Monaco are expected to also be deferred to a later date.
In a bid to free up space to reschedule races, it has been agreed that the traditional two-week summer shutdown in August be extended to three weeks in late March through April.
Ferrari has shut down its Maranello factory on Thursday.
