F1 to hold minute's silence for Hubert as fans plan special tribute

F1 to hold minute's silence for Hubert as fans plan special tribute

Matthew Scott

A minute's silence will be held before the Belgian Grand Prix to honour Anthoine Hubert.

French driver Hubert was killed in a crash in Saturday's Formula 2 race at Spa-Francorchamps.

The F2 sprint race was cancelled, with F3's second race of the weekend taking its spot after a slight delay.

A minute's silence was held on the grid before the race, Hubert's family in front of scores of racing personnel holding his racing helmet.

A similar moment of reflection will be held before the Belgian national anthem is played ahead of Formula 1's race.

Fans are also planning special tributes at Spa-Francorchamps.

It is hoped that all in attendance will join in a round of applause on the 19th lap of the grand prix, honouring the racing number carried by Hubert through his career.

If you are at Spa, or watching the race from elsewhere, please do honour Anthoine in a way you see fit.
