FIA make decision on Hamilton-Verstappen incident

Lewis Hamilton will face no further action after stewards investigated his return to the track in FP2 for the French Grand Prix, a move which had knock-on consequences for Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver had to take evasive action after Hamilton ran wide, but the stewards saw fit to leave Hamilton unpunished.

The incident quite remarkably happened as the Formula 1 paddock awaited news of Ferrari's attempts to have a similar incident from the Canadian Grand Prix reviewed.

That incident had seen Sebastian Vettel given a five-second time penalty, costing him a victory which was inherited by Hamilton.

Of Hamilton's moment in Le Castellet: the stewards found: "Both drivers agreed the limited rear visibility and angle of Car 44 made it difficult for Hamilton to see the approaching car and agreed Hamilton re-joined slowly."
